Should we add Seas0nPass?

Should we add Seas0nPass for the iOS 4.2/iOS 4.2.1 tethered jailbreak for the Apple TV 2G? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by Christoph (talk) 15:24, January 11, 2011. Please consult this page for more info on how to sign pages, and how to fix this.

I don't think so, it is not notable enough. --5urd 23:23, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
I have no objections if Seas0nPass is added to the wiki. --Dialexio 19:12, 15 January 2011 (UTC)
Well now that it was featured on iFans, it seems notable enough --5urd 20:32, 15 January 2011 (UTC)

iBoot column

Just wondering... What's the purpose of the iBoot column? --Dialexio 19:12, 15 January 2011 (UTC)

I am wondering the same thing... "What IS the purpose of this iBoot column? It makes no sense." (My brain) --5urd 20:34, 15 January 2011 (UTC)
Listing the iBoot version. Which is redundant. --Ryccardo 20:44, 15 January 2011 (UTC)

4.3.4 and 4.2.9

HostMonstor is being an idiot and blocking me from editing for some reason. --5urd 19:57, 15 July 2011 (UTC)

Same here. I hope we don't need to bother geohot to sort this out. :\ --Dialexio 20:00, 15 July 2011 (UTC)
It appears to only affect when placing external links or editing long pages. This may be a bug in recaptcha. Any thoughts? --5urd 20:06, 15 July 2011 (UTC)
reCAPTCHA is only applied for account creation, so that can't be the problem. I suppose we could try to divide the page into multiple parts. (e.g.- Move the iPad firmwares to another page, and then include it on this page via a template tag.) --Dialexio 20:12, 15 July 2011 (UTC)
Like on Jailbreak? --5urd 20:17, 15 July 2011 (UTC)
Yeah. --Dialexio 20:19, 15 July 2011 (UTC)
Done --5urd 03:35, 16 July 2011 (UTC)
No, try adding an external link and it will ask for reCAPTCHA. I know, it has happened to me MANY times --5urd 20:17, 15 July 2011 (UTC)
I've never seen that on here before… Perhaps it's because I'm a sysop? --Dialexio 20:19, 15 July 2011 (UTC)
Probably. --5urd 20:20, 15 July 2011 (UTC)

WTF URL's

There are some WTF IPSW URL's in the Apple Firmware XML file. What are those? --5urd 17:11, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

"WTF" is part of the restore process. I believe it's like a software implementation of DFU, so it can be used to "patch" bugs in DFU (to an extent; remember that DFU can't be changed once the device leaves Foxconn's doors). In fact, as I recall Apple did use WTF to try and cover up/block Pwnage 2.0. --Dialexio 17:28, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
So Apple downloads that, flashes that, then flashes the firmware? --5urd 18:20, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
WTF files are something like "patches" for DFU mode, they just don't get flashed anywhere. They also allow you to send bigger firmware payloads, from what I observed. You may noticed that iTunes displays a "Contacting iPhone/iPod restore server" upon connecting a device in DFU mode - that's when it downloads the WTF file. --pjakuszew 21:49, 15 July 2011 (UTC)

Editing Issues

I think hostmonster is having issues because this page is so big, trying to fix now. --geohot 22:56, 15 July 2011 (UTC)

Thanks, it isnt allowing me to edit TinyUmbrella to post the new 5.00.05 update though --5urd 22:59, 15 July 2011 (UTC)
Also, is reCAPTCHA needed anymore as signup is disabled? --5urd 23:00, 15 July 2011 (UTC)
Mediawiki is dumb for not sending deltas of changes. This has nothing to do with recaptcha --geohot 23:02, 15 July 2011 (UTC)
They kindof do. They cant do deltas as then they would need to spend forever creating a database update script just for the delta. They tell you what was changed.
Have you tried updateing to 1.17? --5urd 23:21, 15 July 2011 (UTC)
Crap! I edited trying to space out the page and now atv is missing --5urd 23:27, 15 July 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for looking into this! The size of the page might be an issue, but HostMonster also threw the same error when I tried linking to two support.apple.com pages before. :\ --Dialexio 00:19, 16 July 2011 (UTC)
Again: reCAPTCHA? Maybe because 1.12 is crap. 1.17 is what we need? --5urd 01:01, 16 July 2011 (UTC)
So It's fixed? --5urd 02:53, 16 July 2011 (UTC)
Yay! Can we still remove reCAPTCHA? --5urd 02:55, 16 July 2011 (UTC)

Ok, fixed. And I like reCAPTCHA, when does it bother you? --geohot 04:29, 16 July 2011 (UTC)

And upgraded to 1.17 as well --geohot 22:40, 15 July 2011 (MDT)
Whenever you put a new external link on a page. Apparently, the sysops like you dont see it.WOOT! finnaly, an update! thank you geohot. on last thing, i am not saying you have to, but ycould you install parserfunctions? also, cound you go to the localsettings.php and change the skin to vector? --5urd 22:43, 15 July 2011 (MDT)
Skin switched, if wikipedia uses vector, we use vector :P Recaptcha has also been disabled for now, we'll see how it goes...to be honest I like our invite only community more. And if you think it'll make the wiki better, I installed parserfunctions. --geohot 22:55, 15 July 2011 (MDT)

Dates

It'd be sweet to have the dates the firmware came out as a column. --geohot 13:09, 12 December 2011 (MST)

We would need to establish a date format. Here are some options:
  1. MM-DD-YYYY
  2. DD-MM-YYYY
  3. MM/DD/YYYY
  4. DD/MM/YYYY
  5. Mon DD, YYYY
  6. Month DD, YYYY
  7. DD Mon YYYY
  8. DD Month YYYY
--5urd 14:40, 12 December 2011 (MST)
To avoid confusion with US and non-US dates you can forget all variants which have the month as a number. I would suggest either ISO (yyyy-mm-dd) or one of your last two variations. -- http 15:00, 12 December 2011 (MST)
I vote ISO, and since when are talk pages queues and not stacks? --geohot 15:31, 12 December 2011 (MST)
"DD Month YYYY" is how iFaith and sn0wbreeze are, so I vote that. @geohot, talk pages have always been "newest at bottom". When the top ones are done, they are archived. --5urd 16:54, 12 December 2011 (MST)
