GSM and CDMA

As mentioned by somebody, both GSM and CDMA are on the same chip, so this would mean this chip has internally two chips and two baseband versions. If this is true, how should we integrate this information? The GSM baseband version would be 04.11.08 as far as I know (that page also needs an update then). -- http 15:14, 13 October 2011 (MDT)

You're looking into this a bit too much. :P 04.11.08 is the X-Gold 618's baseband, and I don't think it's cost-effective for Qualcomm to reverse-engineer Infineon's X-Gold 618 so the MDM6610 uses the same firmware. ;) --Dialexio 15:48, 13 October 2011 (MDT)
Oh, the other is Infineon. Yes, that doesn't make sense then. So then both chips are in there? That wouldn't make sense either as the MDM6610 supports both GSM and CDMA already. Or why are both versions listed here: Firmware/iPhone_4S? (see also the discussion page) I assume that is just a copy-paste bug there then? --http 16:50, 13 October 2011 (MDT)
Well the 4s ipsw comes with 2 baseband firmwares for whatever reason.--M2m 17:53, 13 October 2011 (MDT)
It's probably a goof on Apple's side. iOS 4.2.6-4.2.10 (for the CDMA iPhone 4) contained what appeared to be a prerelease X-Gold 618 baseband, and then Apple stopped including it as of iOS 5.0. --Dialexio 18:06, 13 October 2011 (MDT)
The BuildManifest also doesn't include any refernce to 04.11.08. So probably really a goof on Apple's side.
