Nikias Bassen (pimskeks) is member of evad3rs, the team who developed the evasi0n jailbreak. Due to his background, he is probably the author of the backup/restore part of evasi0n. He is also the creator of libimobiledevice, a MobileDevice library interface so applications can run without requiring iTunes installed. This is useful for GPL programs (system libraries do not encompass iTunes libraries) that wish to communicate with an iDevice.
