Near Field Communication, is a technology that was recently implemented to the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus to make Apple Pay possible. PN548 is a NFC Module produced by NXP Semiconductors.

Apple's implementation of NFC is available as binary files in iPhone7,1 and iPhone7,2 device firmwares only! These are the files:

   /usr/lib/PN548.dylib
   /usr/lib/PN548_API.dylib
   /usr/lib/PN548_HAL.dylib
   /usr/lib/libnfshared.dylib
   /usr/libexec/nfcd
   /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/NearField.framework 

According to NXP these are the specs of this module:

   RF front-end design supporting Active Load modulation
   Support for all released NFC standards in Reader/writer, card and Peer to Peer modes (ISO14443-A, B, F, ISO18092, FeliCa, MIFARE, ISO15693)
   HCE (Host Card Emulation) support
   Multiple host interface: I²C-bus, SPI-bus
   Two SWP interfaces to support different secure element form factor (UICC, uSD)
   Reducing system BOM cost with support of low cost antenna
