The App Store app logo

The App Store is an iOS service created and designed by Apple. It allows users to browse and download applications, which are developed by using the iPhone SDK and published through Apple after successful review. Apple offers 70 percent of the money from the Apps go to the owner, whilst Apple retains 30 percent.

The App Store first opened on July 11, 2008 and required a Software Update (2.0) which was free to iPhone users but costed $9.95 for iPod touch users.

The App Store can be accessed through the native app, iTunes 7.7(?) or newer and through a very limited web interface.
