iPhone 4 prototype first reported by [http://gizmodo.com/5520164/this-is-apples-next-iphone Gizmodo]. Brian Hogan, a 21-year-old student at the time, admitted to finding the phone at the Gourmet Haus Staudt in Redwood City, California, after it was left behind by an Apple engineer named Gray Powell, and later selling it to Gizmodo [http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2011/10/brian-hogan-sentenced/]. The iPhone's diguise case didn't seem to have any special features, just two bar codes stuck on its back: 8800601pex1 and N90_DVT_GE4X_0493. Next to the volume keys there was an additional marker: iPhone SWE-L200221.

The Exposè design is very similar to jailbreak tweaks like Multifl0w in the way it displays apps in the background through a preview of their actual windows, rather than simple icons.

Mathias Rios purchased it from ebay where it was listed as broken. Compared to an original iPhone4 (black) this prototype has a smaller back camera and the flash is also slightly further away [http://www.flickr.com/photos/mars478/6069524165/in/set-72157627368941519/lightbox/]. In addition this protoype restore mode screen (Conncect to iTunes Screen) shows an old (iTunes9 - blue Note on CD) and pixalated iTunes icon [http://www.flickr.com/photos/mars478/6069517083/in/set-72157627368941519/lightbox/]. This prototype come with a sticker on the A4 denoting it as Design Verification Test Prototype (N90_DVT_I_0010). Appearently the A4 is marked differently than the actual A4 chip in shipping iPhone, and has the same marking as earlier iPod Touches and iPhones (the "K4X2G643GE" marking).

This iPod touch 3rd generarion prototypes where the first leaked ones to contains a camera (at that time iPod Touches did not). The prototypes where shortly available on eBay, but the listing (250617991364) was removed from eBay later. The devices contained DVT-1 and DVT-2 markings and also Apple Development Team barcode sticker with PT431668 numbering. Mathias Rios purchased it from ebay where it was listed as broken. This prototype come with a sticker on the A4 denoting it as Design Verification Test Prototype (N90_DVT_I_0010). Appearently the A4 is marked differently than the actual A4 chip in shipping iPhone, and has the same marking as earlier iPod Touches and iPhones (the "K4X2G643GE" marking).

The prototypes where shortly available on eBay, but the listing (250617991364) was removed from eBay later. The devices contained DVT-1 and DVT-2 markings and also Apple Development Team barcode sticker with PT431668 numbering. Operator.app is a part of Apple internal diagnostic utilities suite. It shows the status of device parts, and eventually shows details about each component. It was accidentally shipped on many [[n45ap|1st generation iPod touch]] retail devices, probably because they went through quality control in factory and tester forgot to restore to the retail IPSW.

The day of the launch, numerous iPod touches shipped with Operator on it. In order to get it off them, you just did a restore. A few of these were sold on eBay.

'''BurnIN''' is codename for a tool used by Apple. Nothing is really known about it, but somebody on Hackint0sh got their iPhone back with [[BurnIn]] on it, suggesting that it is a diagnostics or a repair tool.

== What it does ==
Leftover strings on firmware 2.1 have told me this; Apple restores a special firmware to the iPhone, but it is based on a regular firmware. At boot, /AppleInternal/Applications/SwitchBoard/BurnIn.app/BurnIn will run. It checks /AppleInternal/Diags/purpleskank/config.plist for configuration information, such as version (v3.0 in this case), where to store the logs (/Library/Logs/BurnIn/ in this case), what level to set the backlight to, and also, some kind of cleanup script is defined (/AppleInternal/Diags/Utilities/burnin_cleanup.sh). What it actually does is still not known though. Two log files are also left by it, by doing whatever is done. They are /Library/Logs/BurnIn/burning_log.xml and /Library/Logs/BurnIn/burnin_log.txt.

On the old iPhone prototypes, BurnIn is launched by the /AppleInternal/Applications/SkankPhone.app/SkankPhone, a SpringBoard replacement. It starts the /AppleInternal/Diags/purpleskank/factoryharness, which loads the configuration from config.plist file in the same directory. Factoryharness loads the index.plist file from location specified in config.plist (default is /AppleInternal/Diags/purpleskank/tables/index.plist) and begins to execute the tests specified in index.plist ("Burnin process"). When tests are successful, logs from burnin process are saved to /AppleInternal/Diags/Logs/ (or to other directory that can be set in config.plist). In case of failure, a failures.plist file is created in Logs directory. If Burnin process has not been completed, file state.plist is parsed by factoryharness and it continues the burnin process. If burnin process has failed, Skankphone.app shows a FAILURE screen and displays contents of burnin_log.txt. To get rid of that screen, user must select the Reset Test Environment option in SkankPhone - it executes the /AppleInternal/Diags/Utilities/burnin_cleanup.sh.

Actual bundle just works after copying it to its location, Preferences.app is coded in that way so it automatically picks up the bundle. What you and other people are trying to do is forcibly attach defunctional settings keys into Preferences. Totally weird. I added the Internal_Install strings to the lockscreen. After I wasn't able to start Safari anymore (just didn't start). And also redsn0w 0.9.8b3 wasn't able to identify the ipsw (4.3.4) anymore so I couldn't get into tethered JB. Weird - but interesting..--[[User:M2m|M2m]] 18:09, 31 August 2011 (MDT)

This prototype come with a sticker on the A4 denoting it as Design Verification Test Prototype (N90_DVT_I_0010). Appearently the A4 is marked differently than the actual A4 chip in shipping iPhone, and has the same marking as earlier iPod Touches and iPhones (the "K4X2G643GE" marking).

This iPod touch 3rd generarion prototypes where the first leaked ones to contains a camera (at that time iPod Touches did not). The prototypes where shortly available on eBay, but the listing (250617991364) was removed from eBay later. The devices contained DVT-1 and DVT-2 markings and also Apple Development Team barcode sticker with PT431668 numbering. This prototype come with a sticker on the A4 denoting it as Design Verification Test Prototype (N90_DVT_I_0010). Appearently the A4 is marked differently than the actual A4 chip in shipping iPhone, and has the same marking as earlier iPod Touches and iPhones (the "K4X2G643GE" marking).
