− | In [[Jailbreak]]ing terms, this iPhone was a masterpiece! It is susceptible to [[24kPwn]] for an untethered jailbreak and always will, there are no Apple signature checks on [[ECID]] or even signed [[Img3]]s! This means creating jailbreaks will be easy and they will always be [[untethered Untethered Jailbreak]]. As for an [[Unlock]], the iPhone 2G is permanently sorted too. The iPhone Dev-Team have created [[BootNeuter]] that will flash itself to the [[bootrom]] and unlock, regardless of firmware. All that is required is an [[exploit]] in the firmware. These have always been plentiful and there is one even ready for [[iPhoneOS]] 3.2 when it comes out. |

Application Processor
It makes use of the S5L8900 application processor. At the time, the iPhone, iPhone 3G, and iPod touch all use this same processor.
Baseband
The iPhone uses the S-Gold 2 baseband chip.
Bluetooth
Uses the CSR BlueCore4 Chip (BC41B41)
Jailbreak/Unlock Status
Naturally, as the iPhone was a first generation device, it is one of the more hack-friendly iDevices. It is susceptible to Pwnage 2.0 for an untethered jailbreak, and will remain that way since it is a hardware-based exploit. The iPhone unlock is also available and is unfixable by Apple. The iPhone Dev Team created BootNeuter which can remove restrictions the Baseband Bootloader imposes and unlock the iPhone no matter what.
